I FINALLY GOT MY LOCS DONE (by a professional that is anyway lol)

Can you believe I hit 6 months with my locs and decided I would let a professional do my hair? Let my mother or husband tell it, I should have been let someone do that.

But like come on, all naturals do things themselves that’s the beauty of being natural, DUH. At least I didn’t start my own locs (although I started to but for my parting concerns I didn’t).

So, I have TWO hair stylist, YUP I DO! Missy started my locs (she braided my hair all last summer, she’s a BEAST) and Jahonnah (who I talk about a lot because she does my natural hair). For a retwist, I went to Jahonnah though at J.Onye Beauty Café. Only makes sense, I’m always in her shop not getting my hair (hahaaa). So I booked her on styleseat, which I hate because she books SO FAST. The cons of having a poppin’ hair stylist lol and on March 28th I made my way to the shop.

Now wait, let me be completely honest. I was nervous! Not nervous as if I didn’t trust Jahonnah because I would have been nervous if Missy did it too. I was just naturally nervous. I’m unsure why. I don’t know if it is because I have “nontraditional locs” (since I started with two strand twist) or what it was. Or maybe I was nervous she was gonna say, “girl you doing it all wrong” since I had been retwisting my own hair since I got them, I DON’T KNOW but I was definitely nervous (lol).

Anyway, I went to the shop and got my hair wash (which was needed because I had some build up) and I got it deep condition because my hair was DRY as EVER (YES, I am a loc’d individual that deep conditions her hair). Let me tell you it felt so good to have someone else wash my hair and it was a treat I needed for sure and my locs deserved it. Then I got my hair retwisted. So here’s my pros and cons about going to the salon to get my hair done.

Let’s start with the bad first well its not bad just cons.

CONS

- Sitting under the dryer (ugh how I hate it lol. I never sit under the dryer at home)

- Scheduling/Appointment times (when you do your own hair you do it right then and there)

PROS

- Someone else doing your hair (the best feeling ever, GOD IS GOOD lol)

- Quicker Retwist Time (not that it takes me a long time to retwist because I do not have that many locs but it seemed even quicker when my stylist did it)

- Neatness of my hair (Of course when I retwist my hair it does not look this neat, at least I don’t think so matter fact, I know so lol)

- Retwist lasts longer (it never lasts this long when I do it)

Of course the PROS outweigh the cons however, the next time I get my hair retwisted will either be in July or August only because my birthday is in August. But we shall see.

Lastly, lets address this before all the Loc Hair Police comes for my stylist or me.

She informed me, YES, informed me that she was going to cut loose hair and when I said it really was much of nothing, it was really much of nothing. PEOPLE, it is not the end of the world. I know, I know, just let my hair be. I could have told her no, obviously but I figured it is just once. I have a bad habit (I will admit) of pulling loose hairs or hanging hairs anyway. I know, I know, it is so bad but you would be proud to know that I am doing A LOT better (lol). However, it is not something I do all the time at all, I haven’t seen a pair of scissors since my last trim and I probably won’t do it again. So don’t kill me and don’t kill my stylist …… Mmmk?

OVERALL my experience was great, I enjoyed it and my hair is still looking good 3 weeks later. WIN! Next retwist is all me though lol.
